Tiger Mother

Tiger Mother

Have you ever heard of “tiger mother”?

It actually describes a very strict education by parents. This phrase first came from a book by the Chinese American professor Amy Chua, who said that her academic success was partly thanks to her “tiger mother”.

A “tiger mother” or “tiger parenting” is a special kind of upbringing, which is quite common in some East Asian families, like China.

Parents have their children to achieve top grades in school. The poor kids usually get really tired from a young age.

When I was a little girl, I had never get relaxed, simply because my tiger mother asked me to get up at 6:30 am on weekdays! Even though it only took 5 minutes from my home to school and the class stared at 8:30 am.

But she thought the morning was a good time to memory things, like reviewed the knowledge that I had learned the day before, or previewed the new content.

Besides, If I got low marks in the exam, my mother would rake me over the coals absolutely. When holidays and weekends came, maybe you guys will think that: oh! So you could have a relax and go out for fun!

Not at all, seriously, I must spend all the weekends at extra-curricular classes, even if I didn’t appreciate.

By the way, this kind of situation not only occurred on me but also many people I know. Each time when we talked about” tiger mother”, anyone who “suffered” by their own “tiger parents” would no doubt made complaints.

Our parents hope we could have a bright future all along. I could understand their starting point definitely, though their actions maybe inappropriate. If I have the baby in the future, I would never stress him/her out.

Anyway, how do you guys think about “tiger mother”? Do you have a “tiger mother” or “tiger father”? let’s talk below the comments~
